Mitacs Step

The Mitacs Step program partners with the School of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies to provide engaging professional development workshops without charge for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows both online and in person. Each workshop is tailored to graduate students’ needs and is facilitated by a leading industry professional.

Step sessions complement your studies by advancing the skills and knowledge needed to further your career and ensure that you thrive in both academic and industry settings. There has never been a better time to participate.

Step workshops are free and open to graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. Please keep in mind that space is limited as Mitacs workshops are open to graduate students across the country. is a series of online training modules available to any Ontario graduate student. Using their university email account, students can log in to view 18 short, self-paced training units on a variety of topics in five categories: Career Development, Professional Communication, Entrepreneurship, Research, Teaching and Learning. The online professional development will benefit those who are interested in a career in academia as well as those seeking to put their credentials to use in business, government or non-profit organizations.
